Can you squash a rumor about the need for Python in docker containers that underlie FireCloud tasks?

A bit of an odd question, so please bear with me. I came across this comment

# As of this writing, firecloud has an implicit requirement for a full python installation
# This should become unnecessary in the future

in a Dockerfile used to create a base Ubuntu image. It didn't make sense to me, i.e. that every task we install to Firecloud has to have a python installation in it's container (even when the task doesn't run python). And a few people I asked didn't seem to have a definitive yes/no stance. I'd prefer to keep images as small as possible, and so would like to remove the Python from these containers. So, can anyone one the dev team clear this up ... and confirm my belief that FireCloud doesn't (or at least shouldn't) mandate the inclusion of Python in containers? Or point me to where I can RTFM? I could test this, I suppose, but I'm not sure my test would be exhaustive because I simply don't know where such a Python dependency would lurk in the Firecloud stack. Thanks, Mike
