More retries than preemptible setting?

I'm having trouble interpreting one of my timing diagrams. One of my workflows seems to have retried more times than my preemptible setting (which was 3). Granted the task DellyGermlineGenomeWorkflow.DellyINV.0 ran for a really long time (the cyan "running-docker" bar for retry5 says 46 hours) and I'm very thankful it did finally succeed, but why did it start over so many times with respect to my preemptible limit?
